Writers Read is pleased to host award-winning Canadian poet Karen Solie for a reading and book signing on Tuesday March 31 at 7:30PM in the John Molson Building room 2.130, 1600 Boul de Maisonneuve O.Copies of Karen Solie’s most recent book Wellwater will be available for purchase. Karen Solie is the author of six collections of poetry. Her most recent, Wellwater, won the Forward Prize for Best Collection, the T.S. Eliot Prize, the Governor General’s Award for Poetry, and was shortlisted for the PEN Heaney Prize. She is this year’s Victoria College Shaftesbury Creative Writer in Residence at the University of Toronto, and teaches in the autumn semesters for the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
Writers Read is part of Concordia University’s Creative Writing program and is supported by the Department of English and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Writers Read, directed by Professor Sina Queyras since 2011, invites renowned and emerging authors, both Canadian and international, to read from and discuss their work with students and local audiences. In addition to readings, the series includes Master Classes and professional developmental activities spanning the school year.
